YHFG joined the world, Girls Not Brides Ghana, government agencies and students from Junior and Senior High Schools in the Upper East Region to celebrate the international Day of the Girl Child at the Bolgatanga Jubilee Park.
As part of celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child, YHFG had an awesome time interacting with students of the Zuarungu Senior High school. Students were educated on why a day is set aside to celebrate the girl child. The boys argued and asked why too much attention is being paid to girls but after further explanation by the team and teachers present, the boys agreed pointing to some of the challenges faced by girls in society mostly caused by their male counterparts. The students also received a presentation on self-esteem and assertiveness and general information on how to concentrate on their education.
