We are happy to share the news that Ms Priscilla Nyaaba has taken over as the acting Executive Director of the Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG). As some of you might be aware, in late July 2018, John Krugu left the YHFG to take up a one-year post-doc assignment in Amsterdam. The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the YHFG has led a robust search to ensure that we found the person most suited to lead the YHFG for the next one year.
With more than nine years of experience with the Ghana Health Services as a staff nurse, graduating to a senior nurse and recently promoted to a Nursing Officer Public Health, Priscilla is bringing lived experiences to the role and deep connections to young people and youth development.
Priscilla has a deeper institutional memory of the YHFG. Her first contact with the YHFG was when she joined the YHFG’s Harvest Club in the Bolgatanga Girls High School (BOGISS) in 2003 (the very early days of the founding of the YHFG). As a born leader, she quickly rose to become the Club’s president in BOGISS. When she left BOGISS, she was the first to work at the then small office of the YHFG as a youth volunteer. Later, when she started her nursing training, her passion for youth development attracted the Executive Council to appoint her as one of the youth representatives on the BoT. Since then, Priscilla Nyaaba has continued to serve on the BoT up to date. Last year, she led the development of a ten-year strategic plan for the YHFG; a year-long process which is near completion.
Her passion for women rights is matched by her commitment to empowering young girls to achieve their full potential. From her early work as a youth volunteer to her role as an advisor on the BoT, Priscilla’s focus has been on evidence-informed youth-led advocacy.
Priscilla is the warm heart of the YHFG Secretariat, role-modelling a positive example for young girls. She is someone we count on to be both knowledgeable at her youthful age and a joy to work with. She is consistently called on by our Youth Centre team to lend her advice or participate in their programmes. We wish Priscilla a successful leadership at the YHFG.
