Quarterly JPG meeting March 2021

On March 12th, JPG held their quarterly meeting. The meeting was held online. We discussed our tasks for 2021.

The coming months we will be working on updating the website with our Ghanaian colleagues from YHFG. For instance, YHFG started Harvest Youth (HAY) Movement. The rationale for the formation of HAY Movement is:

  • to ensure that young people are organized and empowered to participate and take lead in national discussions.
  • to ensure that young people have the assertiveness to take up leadership roles and advocate on issues affecting children and the youth generally.

Another project is research on the impact of COVID-19. With the financial support of JPG, YHFG conducts a study to answer the question ‘What is the impact of the COVID-19 school closures on girls’ education in the Upper East region of Ghana (UER)?’ The aim of this project is to recommend actions for government to protect girls’ rights while schools remain closed, and to enable them to return to school after the lockdown. A cross-sectional survey design will be adopted, using a mixed method to collect both primary and secondary data in two districts.

Our next quarterly meeting is in June 2021.
